A heat solution for open plan living

The double-sided inset stove

The customers wanted a stove to be fitted in their open plan barn conversion.

This was to heat the cooler Lounge area, but retain a partition wall for privacy and heat and create a focal point in the main kitchen/diner.

A double-sided inset stove was chosen as the best option. The stud work partition was replaced by a wider masonry wall to accommodate the new stove and be heat resistant.

A Scan DSA 12 stove was supplied and fitted.

To separate the body of the stove from sensitive plasterwork, grey Riven Slate was chosen for a fire surround and hearths. All building, plastering and installation work was carried out by the A.S.Chimneys team.

New fireplace to match the character of the property

Bringing back a fireplace’s natural charm

The customer wanted to re-model a fireplace, replacing an inefficient open fire dog grate with a new stove. The remains of an old stone fireplace were still in place and the new fireplace should be in character to the stone built house.

A new stone fireplace was designed and fitted by A.S.Chimneys, sourced and made at a local stone quarry so that the stone matched the exterior of the property.

The chimney was re-lined with a Schiedel flexible flue liner, back filled with LECA insulation to improve draw, stabilise the inside of the old chimney and reduce soot and condensation forming, prolonging the flue liners life.

A RAIS Q Tee 2 stove was supplied and fitted.

All design, building and installation was carried out by the A.S.Chimneys team.

A fireplace that is more modern and more efficient

Replace an open fire to help with heating costs

Customer was struggling to heat the home economically using the electric storage heater based main heating, the fireplace for the open fire was getting dated and a newer contemporary look was desired.

The old fireplace was removed and a Stovax Riva 50 inset stove was fitted, this was supplied with an integral electric boost fan to rapidly circulate warm air out of the stove and a warm air duct was installed from the stove into the kitchen to the rear of the fireplace.

This allowed the entire downstairs of the property to be heated by the stove and warm air ducting and allows warm air to radiate up the stairwell heating bedrooms upstairs.

Split face tiles where used to give a modern look to the fireplace, while being capable of enduring the heat from the stove.

The chimney was re-lined with Schiedel flexible flue liner and back filled with Leca insulation, this helps extend liner life and with the inset stove ensures heat is pushed out into the room and not lost heating the old chimney void.

All design, building and installation was carried out by the A.S.Chimneys team

Customer Feedback

“Had our 1970’s coal fire place and surround taken out and replaced with a log burner. Best thing we ever did especially as we have no central heating! Had a vent fitted through to kitchen too. The work was carried out with minimal disruption. Lovely chaps who cleared up after each day. Would definitely recommend”
